The game is played with eleven (11) players per team, with a minimum of five (5) males and five (5) females per team.
Team rosters may consist of a minimum of eleven (11) and a maximum of sixteen (16) players.
If a team does not have five females/males for a particular game, a “ghost” player shall be written into the batting order and represents an automatic out for each female/male under the minimum. A team having 11 players that is missing a required male/female player must play short on the field by the number of missing players male or female.
Click here for Field Positions chart.
The Tournament will be double elimination. Teams forfeiting their first game in the tournament will be forfeited out of the tournament. If a team forfeits a game after having already played a game or games in the tournament, that forfeit will be counted as a loss.
You must be ready to play when your team is called. Failure to show up in a reasonable amount of time will be considered a forfeit.
Kickball is played on a standard softball diamond.
Each team must have like-colored or matching jerseys or shirts for each player.
Games are seven (7) full innings or 45 minutes, whichever comes first.
Brackets will be posted on the PCG website at least 2 weeks prior to the Event. Teams listed on the top bracket will be designated the VISITING team. Teams listed on the bottom bracket will be designated the HOME team.
A strike consists of a ball that is rolled over any part of home plate and below knee level. Any ball that is kicked into foul territory shall also be considered a strike. Two strikes of any kind will result in an out.
A “ball” shall be called on anything that does not pass home plate. Three called “balls” shall
result in the ball being placed on a tee within two feet from either side of home plate. If the
batter kicks the ball foul off the tee, they are automatically out.
The batting team has three outs per inning. An out results due to the following:
-two strikes.
-a ball caught on the fly.
-base runner is forced out.
-base runner is hit with ball while not on base (if runner hit with ball before run scores in third out situations, run does not score. Runners do not score if last out is via force out).
-see ghost batter rule above.
A ball will be considered foul when it travels past the first or third base on the outside or if a player standing outside the first and third base lines picks it up before the ball reaches the bases. If a player touches the ball while still inside the baselines then the ball is considered fair. Once the ball travels past the inside of the first and third base on the ground it is a fair ball even if it travels outside the baseline after reaching the bases. A kicked ball that lands on the boundary line is a fair ball.
A fly ball is considered fair if it lands inside the first and third baselines, or if a player positioned with any part of his or her body in fairground touches a ball that is going to land in foul territory.
No Bunts are allowed--full kicks only. If the kicker bunts it will result in an out.
Any kick which contacts the kicker in fair territory shall be an out.
The pitcher must pitch the ball underhand from the rubber on the pitching mound while always having one foot on the rubber when releasing the pitch. The pitcher must roll the ball in a controlled manner (no bouncies).
The catcher must be positioned behind the kicker prior to the pitch and may not cross the plate or advance forward of the kicker until the ball is kicked.
MALE AND FEMALE ALTERNATE KICKING. Team must choose ten (10) or twelve (12) players to kick. Teams must establish the order of kicking prior to the start of the game and order must remain in place for the duration of the game.
All kicks must be made on the foot or leg, on or below the knee. Any ball kicked or touched with any other part of the body shall be deemed a foul ball. Any double kicks shall be deemed a foul ball.
All contact with the ball by the kicker must occur on or behind home plate. The kicker is allowed to step on home plate to kick the ball, however the ball may not be forward of home plate at the time of the kick.
Any ball that is kicked and bounces before the front of home plate and prior to reaching fair territory is a foul ball.
The kicker may stand no more than six (6) feet behind the center of home plate prior to the pitch.
Base runners are not allowed to lead off a base for any reason. Players who lead off will be called out.
Pinch runners are allowed for injured players only. The pinch runner must be of the same sex as the injured player.
No infield fly rule.
Hitting a runner in the neck or head with the ball is not allowed, except when the runner is sliding. If runner is hit in the head or neck (and not sliding) they will be ruled safe and allowed to advance to the base they were running toward. If a runner intentionally uses the head to block the ball the runner will be ruled out.
Tag-ups are allowed. After a kicked ball is caught by the defense, runners must tag their original base before running to the next base. Runners may not advance on a foul ball or a foul ball which is caught for an out.
A runner touched by the ball or who touches the ball at any time while not on base during play shall be out.
In case of an overthrow by the defense, the runner may advance only one base if thrown into foul territory. The base is not free and the runner can be tagged out while not on the base. The runner has the option to advance as many bases as he/she desires on an overthrow in fair territory.
Once the pitcher has the ball in control AND on the mound, the play is over.
A game may be ended at the discretion of the losing team if the losing team is down by ten (10) or more runs at any point in the game.
If it appears that the time limit will be reached prior to the completion of seven (7) full innings the referee shall end the game after completion of the home team final at-bat. If the referee attempts to start an additional inning and is not allowed to complete a full inning due to expiration time, the final score will be the score at the end of the last full inning.
In case of a tie, the winner shall be determined by whoever wins the next full inning (Both teams
get at-bats). In tie-breaker innings, each team shall play short one additional fielder for each
additional inning until winner is determined.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the team members of the top 3 finishers (maximum 11 medals per team).
