Team rosters may consist of a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of four (4) players, including a minimum of one (1) female and one (1) male per team.
The winning team will be the first to win three (3) games (3 out of 5).
There is a 50-minute time limit for all matches. If time is called and neither team has won 3 games, the winner will be determined based on the number of remaining balls on the table.
Each game is 2-on-2. A team may choose the players from those on the roster prior to the break of each game (players may not substitute during any game that is already in progress); each team must have a male and female play each game.
Start of play is determined by a coin flip. The losing team breaks in all subsequent games.
The breaker must make an open break (4 object balls to the rail). If not, the opponent has the option of accepting the table in position and shooting, or having the balls re-racked and breaking themselves. All balls pocketed on the break remain pocketed whether or not the shot is legal.
If the player makes the 8-ball on the break, and the cue ball does not scratch or jump the table, the team wins that game.
One team must pocket balls of the group numbered 1 through 7, while the opposing team has 9 through 15. The team pocketing their group first and then legally pocketing the 8-ball, wins the game.
Choice is determined if a ball from only one group is pocketed on the break. If balls from both groups are pocketed, the choice remains open until a player legally pockets another ball.
The player continues to shoot until a missed shot or foul occurs. At that time, a member of the opposing team begins their turn. Shooters from each team must alternate turns from male to female.
Player must call the pocket before each shot. A player is not required to call caroms, kisses, cushions, combinations, or banks as long as the ball is pocketed in the pocket called. The player must call and pocket the 8-ball to win the game.
On all shots, the player must strike one of their group balls first and pocket an object ball, or cause the cue ball or any object ball to contact a rail. Failure to execute a legal shot (Foul Penalty #2).
A jump shot is legal if the cue ball is hit above center. Shooting a jumping shot over another ball by scooping the cue stick under the cue ball is illegal (Foul Penalty #2 applies). Accidental miscue is not considered a foul shot unless a legal shot is not made as defined. No masse will be allowed.
Moving or touching the cue ball or object ball(s) by means other than a legal play (Foul Penalty #1 applies). Opponent may play the cue ball as it lays, or the foul penalty rule applies. The opponent may leave or replace any object balls moved.
Anytime an object ball or cue ball is jumped off the table, it is a foul. On the opening break, (Foul Penalty #2 applies) if the 8-ball jumps off the table, it is a loss of game. The shooter's ball(s) that are jumped off the table will be spotted, and opponent's ball(s) pocketed. Deliberately shooting cue ball straight into a pocket (Foul Penalty #2 applies).
A team loses: --When shooting the 8-ball, if cue ball scratches, or the 8-ball is pocketed in the wrong pocket. --8-ball is pocketed in a wrong pocket or knocked to the floor. --A foul is committed while pocketing the 8-ball. --If player misses the 8-ball when shooting at it, the player loses the turn but not the game. |
Foul Penalty #1 The opposing team gets the cue ball in hand behind the head string (kitchen). |
Foul Penalty #2 The opposing team gets the cue ball in hand. This means the shooter can place the cue ball anywhere on the table (does not have to be behind the head string). |
Unsportsmanlike conduct is strictly prohibited and shall be dealt with immediately. Any team or individual who interferes with play will be removed from the event and the team will receive a forfeit.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the team members of the top 3 finishers (maximum 4 medals per team).
