download full rulebook (pdf) | | Team roster should consist of four (4) to six (6)players, including a minimum of one (1) female and one (1) male. | | Only 4 players from each team are allowed at the team table during play. A minimum of one (1) male & one (1) female must be at the table at all times. Companies can substitute players at the end of each round (category). | The tournament consists of fifty (50) questions, ten (10) each in five (5) different categories. Each question will have a value attached as follows:
Questions #1 - #3: 1 point each Questions #4 - #7: 2 point each Questions #8 - #10: 3 point each | | There is a total of 20 points possible per category and 100 for the tournament. As the questions increase in value, they also increase in difficulty. | Topics for the five (5) categories are:
a) General Knowledge--questions covering Science, Geography, History, etc.
b) Current Events--questions from today's headlines.
c) Sports--questions from various recreational activities.
d) Entertainment--questions about movies, music, TV, and the arts.
e) Portland, Oregon--questions about our city, state, and the Northwest. | | During each ten (10) question round, the moderator will read a question and then repeat it for clarification. Teams will have up to 1 minute to confer before deciding their answer, which they will record on the answer sheets provided. The process then repeated for each of the 10 questions in that round. | | No communication between teams and spectators is allowed. No cell phones or other communication devices will be allowed in the playing area. Any team caught using these devices or communicating with others outside of their 4 person team will forfeit the game. | | Ties will be broken during a "sudden death" bonus round. | | Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the team members of the top 3 finishers (maximum 6 medals per team). |
