The game is played with six (6) players per team, with three (3) men and three (3) women per team on the court at all times.
Team rosters may consist of a minimum of six (6) and a maximum of eight (8) players.
Teams may play with four (4) players (2 females and 2 males). If a team begins a game with four (4) players, and a fifth or sixth player arrives during the course of the match, he/she may enter the court when the ball is dead.
Females and males must take up alternating positions on the court.
The receiving team will rotate one position, clockwise, prior to their first serve.
The Tournament will be double elimination. Teams forfeiting their first game in the tournament will be forfeited out of the tournament. If a team forfeits a game after having already played a game or games in the tournament, that forfeit will be counted as a loss.
You must be ready to play when your team is called. Failure to show up in a reasonable amount of time will be considered a forfeit.
The winning team will be the first to win two (2) games (2 out of 3).
The first two games will be rally score to 20, must win by 2, cap at 25 points. The third game, if necessary, will be rally score to 15, win by 2, with a cap at 17 points.
Teams with eight (8) players on the roster may rotate players out of the match after they finish serving, allowing teams to utilize all of their players. The additional players must be one (1) female and one (1) male and maintain the proper female/male configuration on the court.
The server may serve the ball from anywhere behind the baseline.
A blocked ball does not count as a hit. The team then has three (3) legal hits to return the ball across the net to the opposing team.
Co-ed hitting rule is enforced. If the ball is hit two or three times before going over the net, at least one hit must be by a female.
A ball in play (including a serve) may touch the net and go on over the opponent's side of the court, but a player cannot touch the net.
All matches have a 45-minute time limit.
At the 45 minute whistle, the team leading the current game will be the winner of that game. If the game is tied, next point wins.
If only 2 games have been played at the 45-minute whistle, and the games are tied 1-1, the point differential of the 2 games will be used to determine the match winner. If the match is still tied, a 3rd game will be started and first point wins that game.
The first game will start with a coin toss. Winner serves. The team who lost the previous game will serve first in the following game.
All ceilings and obstacles are out of play unless otherwise specified.
Each team will receive one 30-second time out per game.
USA Volleyball rules apply (www.usavolleyball.org).
A player going under the net is legal unless he/she contacts an opponent.
The ball may touch any part of the body.
There will be no blocking of the serve.
A blocker can come from the back to assist on the block only when one man is on the front, but he cannot attack the ball at the net.
Only team captains may approach the official during the game.
Good sportsmanship will prevail, and no harassing of court officials will be tolerated. Points will be given to the opposing team in case of poor sportsmanship and foul language as per USA Volleyball sanctions.
All jewelry, except flat wedding bands must be removed prior to play. This includes watches and post earrings.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the team members of the top 3 finishers (maximum 6 medals per team).
